MY PROPOSAL FOR THE ON COMING IHS 97 ALUMNI PRESIDENCY ELECTION
My name is Olatunji Fasimoye, Please I don’t want you to see this as a campaign but as a humble way of putting myself forward for the task ahead.
I was in commercial class back in HIS, I used to be the school football team goal keeper then, I attended Federal Polytechnic Offer and also Lagos State University , I am accountant by discipline
My passion for sports got me playing rugby, I played as a professional outside Nigeria and also have several caps for Nigeria, I was spotted for my knowledge of the game by the government and I was elected as the vice president and appointed as the technical director of the sport in Nigeria. Since I was appointed as the Director of Rugby in Nigeria, I have been able to gain good recognition for Nigeria from World Rugby and Rugby Africa, also for the first time in history; I qualify Nigeria for the common wealth and all African games but lost out in the quarter finals of the Olympics qualifiers.
My working experience started with KPMG as an auditor, Serve Trust Prudential Guard also as an internal auditor, I also worked with one of the biggest real estate firm in the country (CMB) where I help setup several department like Account, internal Audit and Control, Logistic, Facility Management and security unit, I grew in the company to become a GM, after over 10years of working with the company I resigned to start my own thing.
Presently, I am a Director and a Co-founder of Abode Gate Ltd a real estate firm; Director/Founder of Vtrade Center a web based E commerce platform for Value Exchange; Director/Founder HelenFus a fashion outfit; Director/Founder Stake Easy an online betting solution platform.
I am also a chief in my town but I will rather you don’t address me as such.
I am honored to be nominated as one of the contestant for the president of HIS 97 alumni considering there are other smart and productive member in the group.
Our primary aim should be to improve the standard of the school.
Firstly, we need to give this association a face in order to be taken seriously and also to reap the fruit of our labour. I am glad that already the planning committee is setting up a website which is one of the ways to give ourselves a face; In other words, we need to promote and publicize our programmes and achievements through the media, this way we will attract more members to the association.
At the end of every year we should be able to have a plan and budget for the preceding year, this way we can access and review our performance.
At this initial stage, we might struggle with achievements because of our slim purse but never the less we can rally round ourselves to raise funds for projects.
One of the ways we can take the financial burden off our purse is to invest in ventures that can generate funds for us which in the long run will help our planning and projects implementation.
creating the IHS platform already automatically creates opportunities for members through internal networking which will go a long way in taking care of members welfare, but that does not mean the association should not extend help to members if need be.
in order to be transparent and effective we will have to set up different sub committees to handle specific task e.g. finance committee, media committee, reunion committee, welfare committee, project implementation committee etc this way we can all participate in the movement.
For me, anybody elected as a member of the management committee should not see themselves as the driver of the association instead see themselves as the conductor. The real driver of the association is the BOT because they represent every member of the association and the management committee reports to them through AGM Meeting.
Using my wealth of experience and if giving a chance, I will channel my effort in ensuring that HIS 97 Alumni genuinely and effectively achieve its goals.
I am glad to be a part of the HIS 97 set as I have found out that a lot of us are doing well and play a high and sensitive role in Nigeria and beyond.
Thank you for the opportunity once again.
